History
Historical context and verified seasons Racing Club was officially established on 6 April 1919. The club’s own history describes earlier neighbourhood football names, Yuyito FC and Guaycurú, before Racing became the enduring identity. The historical link is specific to the Uruguayan Racing in Montevideo; it must not be confused with Racing Club de Avellaneda in Argentina. In 1930 Uruguay selected Victoriano Iriarte while he was associated with Racing. Iriarte scored against Yugoslavia in the semi-final and against Argentina in the final. Racing’s official history records its later move to the Sayago district and Parque Osvaldo Roberto in 1942; the 1942 ground should not be retroactively assigned as its stadium in 1930.
