Overview
Genoa’s historic Marassi ground dates to 1911. Expanded between 1929 and 1933 and named for former Genoa captain Luigi Ferraris in 1933, it hosted Spain–Brazil at the 1934 World Cup and remains one of Italy’s oldest continuously used major football grounds.

History
The first Genoa football ground at Marassi was inaugurated in 1911.
The venue was substantially expanded between 1929 and 1933 with new stands and terraces.
In January 1933 it was named after Luigi Ferraris, former Genoa captain who died during the First World War.
Hosted Spain 3–1 Brazil in the 1934 World Cup round of 16.
The ground later became shared by Genoa and Sampdoria and was comprehensively rebuilt for the 1990 World Cup.
