Porto’s roots date to 1893, with the club later becoming one of the central institutions of Portuguese football. Its international breakthrough came with victory over Bayern Munich in the 1987 European Cup final. A second European crown followed in 2004 under José Mourinho, after Porto had also won the UEFA Cup in 2003.
