CHAPTER 01

Tigres UANL Femenil: the Amazonas

Tigres UANL Femenil, widely known as the Amazonas, are the women’s team affiliated with Tigres UANL in Nuevo León. They helped define the standards of Mexico’s professional women’s league after its 2017 launch and became its most decorated club of the first decade. The side plays major home matches at Estadio Universitario, a setting sometimes called El Volcán. Women’s and men’s Tigres have a shared institutional identity, but their champions lists and player biographies must remain distinct. In Footballopedia, the women’s club is an independent profile with its own seven Liga MX Femenil titles as of the completed Apertura 2025 tournament.

CHAPTER 02

The first dynasty: 2018–2021

Tigres captured the Clausura 2018 title against Monterrey’s Rayadas and added the Clausura 2019 championship. They then won Guardianes 2020 and Guardianes 2021 as the club’s consistency became a central storyline in the league. The two short tournaments in a calendar year are separate championships, so their achievements should not be reduced to a vague phrase such as “four straight years as champions.” There were seasons of disappointment between victories, and the cancellation of Clausura 2020 must be recognized when counting editions. The Amazonas raised expectations for squad depth, fan engagement and the ability to handle tense two-legged postseason ties.

CHAPTER 03

Seven league titles by the end of 2025

Tigres went on to win Apertura 2022, Apertura 2023 and Apertura 2025, bringing the officially listed league total to seven. That makes the club the record holder for Liga MX Femenil titles through Clausura 2026, even though América won that later tournament. Tigres also lists three Campeón de Campeonas honors for 2021, 2023 and 2024; these are separate trophies and must not be added to the seven league titles. The club’s official championships page supplies the definitive year-by-year breakdown. An encyclopedia should preserve that exact sequence and label its cutoff date, rather than presenting a changing total without a time reference.

CHAPTER 04

Rayadas and the Clásico Regio Femenil

Matches against Monterrey Femenil, usually called Rayadas, have given the Amazonas one of Mexican women’s football’s best-known local rivalries. It is a derby inside the Monterrey metropolitan region, not the same fixture as América versus Chivas or an international club cup. The rivalry has featured league finals, high-pressure semifinals and enormous local interest. A Wikimedia Commons photograph used for this article comes from the Tigres–Monterrey semifinal on November 4, 2022; it is an authentic image of this derby, not a photo of the 2025 championship final. That distinction is important because historical match articles depend on truthful captions and dates.

CHAPTER 05

The 2025 Apertura final against América

The Apertura 2025 final again brought Tigres together with Club América Femenil. Their first leg ended in a draw, and the Amazonas won the return leg 1–0 at Estadio Universitario. Diana Ordóñez scored in the second match, which sealed a 4–3 aggregate victory and Tigres’ seventh title. That championship also followed a commanding regular-season run. Official club reporting says Tigres ended the regular stage first on 42 points, scored 60 goals and conceded only 11 in league play. Those figures belong specifically to Apertura 2025 and should not be misrepresented as a universal record for all the team’s seasons.

CHAPTER 06

Gotham’s continental victory in 2025

The domestic juggernaut has also encountered strong cross-border opposition. Tigres reached the first Concacaf W Champions Cup final in May 2025 but lost 1–0 to NJ/NY Gotham FC at Estadio Universitario. The result makes a useful bridge between this Mexican club profile and Footballopedia’s growing NWSL section. A runner-up finish in a regional competition is not a league championship, and Gotham’s title should not be credited to Tigres. The first final demonstrated that dominant domestic records do not guarantee a regional trophy, even on home soil. The detailed final article provides the distinct chronology and scorer rather than forcing all of it into a club overview.

CHAPTER 07

Personnel and the evolving playing identity

Tigres’ identity has been built over multiple squads and coaching periods, with figures including Liliana Mercado, Greta Espinoza, Jennifer Hermoso and Diana Ordóñez appearing at different points of the club’s evolution. These names should not be mistaken for a single unchanging starting lineup. The club’s attacking production in 2025 reflected individual talent, but a historical assessment also needs to recognize defensive consistency, experience and the effect of large home crowds. Players such as Hermoso have their own international careers, so later child profiles can connect the Mexican league to European competitions and women’s international tournaments without pretending those achievements were all won in Tigres colors.

CHAPTER 08

Where this history connects

Start with the Liga MX Femenil hub for formats and season-by-season champions, then compare Club América Femenil’s 2018, 2023 and 2026 domestic titles with the Amazonas’ longer title run. The 2025 Concacaf final connects Tigres with Gotham, the NWSL and regional competition records. A future fully documented Clásico Regio Femenil article would merit its own canonical page, but a new URL should not be opened merely to restate rivalry names. The goal is to make every child page answer a different question while preserving a consistent historical graph.
