History
AC Milan was founded on 16 December 1899, with Englishman Herbert Kilpin among the central figures in its creation. The club won an Italian championship early in its history and developed the red-and-black identity that remains one of the most recognisable in the sport. Milan's international significance grew dramatically in the post-war period. The club became the first Italian side to win the European Cup in 1963 and later built further European-winning teams across multiple generations. San Siro, shared with Inter, became the setting for both domestic success and one of football's most famous city rivalries.
