Ibrahimović began his professional career with Malmö before moving to Ajax in 2001. From there he built an unusually wide elite-club career across Italy, Spain, France, England and the United States, winning league titles in several countries and becoming Sweden’s most prominent player of his generation.

His relationship with AC Milan spans two playing periods. Milan’s own historical material records 85 appearances and 56 goals in his first spell, including a central role in the 2010/11 Serie A title, before his later return helped connect another generation of the club. Footballopedia uses Ibrahimović as a cross-league hub linking Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, PSG, Manchester United, MLS and Sweden.
